From a simple idea to a global impact
The Story of Sleep Pod Builds
All sleep pods are built by hand and this process has evolved from the early days of large volunteer builds to production in prisons and our corporate events.
All sleep pods are built by hand and this process has evolved from the early days of large volunteer builds to production in prisons and our corporate events.
When the COVID-19 pandemic made gathering impossible, our community found a new way. Volunteers built Pods from their homes, kitchens, and garages. Even in isolation, people worked together with one shared goal: to protect the most vulnerable during one of the toughest winters on record. This spirit of creativity and compassion kept our mission alive when it was needed most.
Today, our builds have evolved into something even more sustainable and transformative. Partnering with UK prisons, Sleep Pods are now produced reliably and consistently, giving us the ability to meet growing demand. This partnership also provides meaningful activity and skills for people in prison, another way the project is changing lives.
A collaborative partnership between Sodexo’s Aberdeen-based Energy & Resources business and Sodexo-managed prison, HMP Addiewell will see 50 sleep pods donated to the Aberdeen Cyrenians, a registered charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable people and those experiencing homelessness.
