Sleep Pod Cubs Activity Night

Monday 4th November the Sleep Pod Project were proud to be invited by the 1st Sturry Beavers, Cubs and Scouts in Kent to raise awareness of the Sleep Pod. Anjika delivered the session to her fellow cubs, designing a series of activities to raise awareness of homeless issues and the benefits of the Sleep Pod. All the children had a chance to try out the Sleep Out and share their views. They said they found the Sleep Pod warm, cosy, comfortable, spacious, liked the design and shape, said it was easy to use and peaceful inside. The children were all really engaged and shared thoughtful and insightful comments about what it would feel like to be homeless and what they would most miss.

The Sleep Pod Team would welcome more opportunities like this to collaborate with local community groups raising awareness of the Sleep Pod Project.

Please contact us if you require more information. We have activity packs available.

1st Corporate Sleep Pod Build

On Tuesday 22nd October the Sleep Pod Project hosted it's first corporate Sleep pod build in partnership with @Ecus Ltd.

@Ecus Ltd - Head Office is an environmental consultants company passionate about supporting both its employees and the wider community. They have introduced two innovative schemes, employer supported volunteering and fundraising. These schemes are designed so staff can make a positive contribution and give something back to their local community.

Rob Seeley and his team of staff successfully built 40 Sleep Pods. The feedback was extremely positive and the staff really enjoyed the hands on team building workshops, and knowing that it was a worthwhile experience. We are really pleased to hear your team of staff really enjoyed the Sleep Pod build workshops.

The Sleep Pod Project could not run without the kindness and generosity of volunteers like yourselves sharing their compassion through giving their time and energy to build the life shelters. It was particularly moving to know the 40 Sleep Pods you collectively built on Tuesday went directly to the Cathedral Archer Project Charity Organisation, Sheffield.

The 40 Sleep Pods means 40 people (that is 40 sons and daughters) will be kept warm, dry and protected during the cold months of autumn and winter.

Weekend 7th & 8th September Tame Valley Scouts of Birmingham Sleep Pod Volunteer Build Workshop

A huge thank you to the Tame Valley Scouts of Birmingham  who were the first scout group ever to take part in a Sleep Pod build. The Sleep Pod build team mostly came from the Tame Valley Scouts of Birmingham, ranging from 10 - 74yrs. This proves that anyone can help make Sleep Pods and help to reduce deaths due to hypothermia and exposure whilst sleeping on the street without adequate protection. The scouts, explorers and leaders from Tame Valley and Sutton Coldfield spent 15 hours building 140 Sleep Pods which will go out to give homeless people a warm and dry place to spend the night. The scouts did a fantastic job, sharing their professionalism, respect, attention to detail and dedication to a good cause.

21st-23rd June 'Unearthed' Festival, Adam Vincent  organised this fundraising event.

"This year at Unearthed Tim and crew are happy to allow us to rent a tent to anyone needing one for the weekend! Pop up tents will be available to rent from the marquee at the entrance for £25 for the entire weekend, £10 of which is a refundable deposit! This will allow us to raise funds to help homeless people, refugees and all street sleepers primarily by building a batch of the awesome Sleep Pod , that have been invented and designed by Ian Ashby and Justin Devereux, we will be scheduling a build session and asking for volunteers to build at Trehale Farm soon! So don't buy a tent....rent a tent and help out those less fortunate!"
